So I spent a couple of hours in sydney learning the basics of aussie rules football: The hand pass, the bounce jump ball, dribbling a oddly shaped ball on grass, when does one get a free kick. Most of the info coming off the AFL site.
But on the guys night out , the group of us caught the train down to the Telstra dome to catch the swans playing some team the raining champs were supposed to cursh.
It was a great night, we drank beer, ate meat pies, and I continued my AFL education. The swans did in the end win but the most amusing part of the night, topping even Gary’s two beer drunkennes… The swan’s fight song. Yes the fight song for the ol’ sydney swans is the same as that for ol’ notre dame. Just new words.
Start humming the tune and sing out the following words.
Cheer, cheer the red and the white,
Honour the name by day and by night,
Lift that noble banner high,
Shake down the thunder from the sky
Whether the odds be great or small,
Swans will go in and win overall
While her loyal sons are marching
Onwards to victory.
